Puppy Basics (Puppies <5 months)
Beginner Basics (Puppies/dogs >5 mos)
Start training your puppy early and you will have the best results right from the beginning! We will teach you how to communicate with your new pup and to help them understand the house rules and expectations. Sit, down, come, stay, socializing, and loose leash walking will be covered, as well as methods for discouraging improper behavior such as jumping and mouthing. Having a good basic obedience foundation supports future advanced training.
Better Behavior! Continuing Obedience
This class is designed to increase reliability with your dog's basic obedience behavior. It includes adding the 3Ds - distractions, duration, and distance - to basic manners such as sit, down, stay, and come. Additional behaviors such as beginning heel work and wait will be covered, as well as important social behaviors. Prerequisite: Puppy/Beginner Basics, or permission of the instructor.
Competitive Obedience - ALL Levels
These classes are a more structured obedience, designed to prepare handlers and their dogs for AKC obedience and competition through all levels. Drop-ins (with permission) are welcome for those preparing for an upcoming show. Pre-requisite: Beginning Obedience or permission of the instructor.
Rally Obedience
Rally is a sport in which the dog and handler complete a course that has been designed by the rally judge. The dog and handler proceed at their own pace through a course of designated stations. Each of these stations has a sign providing instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed. Scoring is not as rigorous as traditional obedience. This class will provide instruction on how to perform the various stations and offer training time.
Agility Competition Prep
Class focus is on preparing the dog/handler team for competition, involving enhancement of distraction skills (with proofing) for the dog and dealing with a competitive environment for the human and dog members of the team. Calming techniques, course memorization tools, pre-run rituals, warm up/cool down techniques for dog & handler, trial preparation & etiquette, trial entry completion, rule review, etc., etc. will be presented to produce a well informed and trial ready team!
Novice Techniques, Skills & Maneuvers
Class focus is on introducing more challenging and involved sequences for the dog/handler team to analyze and perform, previously learned small sequences are linked together to provide greater variety, FUN and skill development and prepare the team for Novice level type competitions.
Intermediate Techniques, Skills & Maneuvers
Class focus is on perfecting handling skills, to build a dog/handler team that is confident, communicating, connected and collaborative. Course exercises continue to increase in length, complexity and FUN and include obstacle discrimination and option/challenge work!
Excellent/Master Techniques, Skills & Maneuvers
Class focus is on course analysis and mastery of handling maneuvers and communication systems with the dog to provide the utmost in clear, concise and timely communication to the dog, so they can have the cleanest, most efficient and motivational direction and path that lead to Q’s in the competition ring.
